Dear Jonny, Factory Farm Meat?
I feel the need to ask if you are a vegetarian?I’m making a inference based on your suggestion of meatless chicken nuggets. If not do you eat or advocate certain conditions under which certain meats are acceptable? For instance I eat meat from free range farms untreated by the disgusting amount of growth hormones and antibiotics used in factory farming processes.
No, I am not a vegetarian. The majority of the time I follow a slightly modified version of the Paleolithic diet, which means that I mostly consume meat (almost exclusively chicken, turkey, and fish) and vegetables. However, I make a point to eat meat that is minimally processed, hormone-free, and/or “organic.” As you alluded to, most standard supermarket meat is saturated with hormones and pathogens, so I tend to avoid such shit as best I can. Clean, free-range meat is extraordinarily beneficial to the body, particularly if you’re a serious athlete who is in constant need of quality protein sources. It’s the “factory farm” meat (rather, what it’s contaminated with) that causes innumerable health problems in largely oblivious consumers. I mentioned the vegetarian chicken nuggets because they are, without a doubt, a healthier alternative to the real thing. That, and they taste pretty fucking good after downing a few beers.
