Dear Jonny, Schwarzenegger?
What do you think of Arnold Schwarzenegger?
I think he was one of my greatest childhood heroes. I think that, as an adolescent, I came to view the vast majority of his movies (Predator being one of only three or four flawless films in existence) as bravado-steeped guides to shaping my basic understanding of manhood, which is quite nice when you consider that the last few post-watching-Schwarzenegger-in-his-prime generations have been brought up on a metrosexual media monster that has somehow convinced them that acting like a fucking female is, in essence, PREFERABLE to embracing their glorious gift of testosterone. I think that he has an enormous God complex, which is certainly understandable. I think that he is a better actor turned politician than Reagan was. I think that it’s sad and lame that he, as a politician, had his bodybuilding pictures removed from all Gold’s gyms, which he almost certainly did in order to abandon the perfectly swollen steroid image that, quite ironically, brought him to the pinnacle of fame and power. But he’s still the man. In fact, I just finished Commando. “Remember, Sully, when I promised to kill you last?” “Yeah, Matrix, you did!”….”I lied…”
