Dear Jonny, Thoughts On This Article?
What do you think about this article?
I think the only thing that sells better than a sensational claim is a book full of them. I think that lawyers cannot be trusted. And I think that this particular lawyer – the author – is a remarkably sly chauvinist who, aside from having a kinky perversion for publicly emasculating himself, has used a number of misleading facts (claiming that women are more tolerant of pain because a plastic surgery journal found that – compared to men – their facial skin has more nerve fibers per square inch, is, well, pretty fucking stupid) to paint an overtly sexist portrait that will shower him with attention, notoriety, t.v. spots, and wealth. Feminists will slobber over the book. Insecure women will find solace in it. Strong, successful, independent women will buy it for a chuckle. And a lot of dudes will grab a copy, just to see what all the fuss is about. Meanwhile, the sly attorney will be making his rounds on the talk show circuit, basking in the glow of high-powered female approval, pissing off men, stirring up controversy, securing future book deals, and laughing all the way to the bank.
