Muscle Marinade: It’s Still Soaking In
So I thought I’d do a little review of a pre-workout supplement that impressed me far beyond my expectations. Let me start by saying that in terms of these sorts of products, I’ve tried EVERYTHING at least once, usually at double or triple the suggested dosage (something I do not recommend on any level). Some of them have worked quite well, providing me with increased endurance, a jump in strength, a more noticeable pump, and/or a considerable bump in mental focus. Some have done very little. And others have damn near given me a myocardial infarction (mixing high doses of caffeine with equally stout amounts of vasodilators is pretty fucking hard on the ol’ ticker; not something you have to worry about with this particular formula). But I was very recently turned on to a relatively new product, Muscle Marinade, distributed by a company called Purus Labs. I’d already had much success with several of their other formulations, but I always make a point to research any new supplement quite thoroughly, prior to consuming it. What I found on google was both unanimous praise and the opinion that under no circumstances was any more than one scoop required (as opposed to three or more scoops with similar products). That impressed me considerably. The list of ingredients impressed me further; VERY liberal dosages of all the right compounds combined scientifically to work in perfect concert with one another. And no bullshit proprietary blend. So I gave it a shot. Here’s my report: Within one minute of ingesting it at the suggested dosage dissolved in 30 oz of water, I felt a very interesting head rush. 20 minutes later I began to sweat mildly/coldly while experiencing an intermittent full-body tingle. Within half an hour I felt as if someone had injected me with both adrenaline and a sedative, which was an unusual but altogether fascinating sensation; some of the ingredients were obviously highly psychoactive. The stimulation felt clean, smooth and exceptionally powerful yet somehow subdued. My heart rate seemed only marginally elevated, my mind was calm and collected, but my focus and intensity were absolutely otherworldly. My pump was frightening. And strength was up 20% on almost every movement. The effects enabled me to forego my usual 30 seconds between sets, which means that I was lifting heavy weights for exactly 60 minutes without a single break. And not once did I feel sick, dizzy, overworked, over-stimulated, or in any way uncomfortable. I was in that zone in the sky, and its potent slug of 2-amino-4-methylhexane, a constituent of geranium oil, was combining perfectly with the caffeine to wash my brain over with what felt like a beautiful, euphoric cocktail of all the right fight or flight hormones. And then I walked out of the gym. No crash. No mood swing. Stim’d but chill. I still feel great, 5 + hours later. Hell, I typed up this review in 15 minutes. Final thoughts: It’s by far the best pre-workout supplement I’ve ever used. Sexy stuff.
